RSVP Exhibitions
CLASS PICTURES, An exhibition of work by undergraduate college students. Now on View.
ARBOR, Fall 2009
The RSVP project, an initiative of online and gallery exhibitions presented by the Michael Mazzeo Gallery, brings together artists from the global photography community to present work on common themes and interests. By way of call and response initiated on the gallery blog, artists are asked to submit images to be considered for inclusion in specific exhibitions. A catalog is produced for each RSVP exhibition and selected works are made available for sale through the gallery.
Our current exhibition, Class Pictures, was conceived at the end of the school year, a time when educators like myself have the pleasure of reveling in the birth of projects that had been gestating in classrooms, darkrooms, studios and computer labs during the previous year. Challenged by rigorous institutional demands and the need to create compelling work while maintaining their individuality, students' progress and achievements become evident in the richness and diversity of their final portfolio presentations. In an effort to bring some of this work to a wider audience, Class Pictures presents a diverse selection of work by a few of these outstanding undergraduate students.
The exhibition was curated from images uploaded in response to a call for submissions posted on the gallery blog. Bodies of work were chosen by a selection committee of prominent professionals from the US, Canada, and Europe including Dr. Jörg M. Colberg, Zuzana Lapitkova, Christopher Rauschenberg, P. Elaine Sharpe and Michael Paris Mazzeo.
Please follow the gallery blog for more information about upcoming exhibition opportunities.
